Exmouth police are warning residents against taking phone calls from a company offering a free security system. Officers said the cold caller asks residents personal information about their home security, if they live alone or if they belong to a Neighbourhood Watch group.

The police are advising residents not to answer the questions and terminate the call.

Police community support officer Chantalle Major said: “These have been from a company offering security systems for free but then additional costs mount up and they become expensive.”

Exmouth police are still keen to trace a car stolen after a caravan was burgled at Devon Cliffs Holiday Park.

Officers said the Grey Citroen C8 with registration YP55VFJ was stolen after the keys were taken from the holiday home between 6.15pm and 11pm on August 22.

Anyone who spots the car should report it to the police.

Other property stolen in the raid included camping gear, a satellite navigation system, mobile phone, a wallet and its contents, hair straighteners, a camcorder, camping table and chairs, wetsuits, boogie boards, a child’s tractor, compact discs, bedding and child car seats.

A boys red BMX bicycle has been stolen from Devon Cliffs Holiday Park, prompting Exmouth police to appeal for witnesses.

Officers said the bike was taken between 10pm August 22 and 9am the following day.

The bike has a black saddle and Boomtown written in black and white lettering.

Any sightings of the bike should be reported to your Exmouth neighbourhood team or by telephoning 08452 777444, quoting crime reference KE/10/2235.

A campervan parked in Littleham had its rear nearside tyre slashed, prompting Exmouth police to appeal for help tracing the culprit.

Officers said the motor caravan was damaged between 7pm on August 26 and 8am the following morning, while parked in Midway.

Exmouth police are appealing for witnesses after a fence at Exmouth Fun Park, on Queens Drive, was smashed.

Officers said the damages happened sometime between 8.30pm on August 28 and 8am the following morning.

A black Hewlett Packard laptop computer was stolen from a caravan at Devon Cliffs Holiday Park, police at Exmouth have revealed.

Officers said the computer was stolen between 8pm on August 30 and 3am the following morning after the caravan window was forced open.

The police are keen to hear from anyone with information, or who may have been offered the equipment, quoting crime reference KE/10/2273.

A black Apple iPad was stolen from a car left in the beach car park at Devon Cliffs Holiday Park, Exmouth police said.

The state-of-the-art equipment was taken between 3.30pm and 5.30pm on August 31, said police.

Police at Exmouth are keen to trace a man’s bicycle stolen from an insecure garage in Sarlsdown Road.

Officers said the 21-gear bike, with black and red circles on its wheel rims and white paint marks on its seat, was taken sometime between 9.30am on August 21 and 3pm on August 31.

Police at Exmouth said the vehicle was deliberately damaged sometime between 6pm on August 28 and 10am the following morning, while parked opposite Tesco.

Officers said the vehicle’s passenger side was deliberately scratched between noon and 8pm, while parked in Nelson Drive.

An outboard engine has been stolen from a boat was while it was moored off the estuary in Exmouth.

Police are keen to trace the culprit who stole the Mariner 40 HP outboard engine, between 4pm on August 19 and 10am on August 23, while the blue dory boat was moored in the Gut, closed to the Imperial recreation ground and Camperdown Terrace.

The police said the latest theft was part of a spate of marine crime being carried out in the estuary area.

Officers said the graffiti was carried out sometime between 5.30pm on August 29 and 9.45am the following day.
