More than �1,000 was raised by the annual Lions Club charity duck race in Budleigh Salterton.

This year �1,151.85 was raised for local charities in the event organised by Budleigh Salterton Lions Club.

Geoff Paver of the Lions said: “Next year we will have to put a price on the head of number 22 as this is the fourth year running that it has been in winner’s row, twice first prize and twice runner up.

“Even after deductions the race raised a magnificent �1,151.85 for local charitable causes.

“Thank you to everyone who supported this event and a very special thank you to the In a Heartbeat charity for walking the river behind the ducks which was very much appreciated.”

First place; Janet Cockayne, who won �200; second place: Philip Ringrose , �100; runners-up who won a ‘duck dinner’ were the Gibney family, the Oliver family, Sandra Pearson and Mark Laurenti.

The Lions’ annual balloon race balloons dropped all over France and the winner of �100 was a Mr. Wooller of Budleigh Salterton whose balloon landed in La Bouillie travelling a distance of about 264 miles.
