CONCERNS about anti-social behaviour in the Strand Gardens have led to a town councillor pledging to raise the concerns with police.
CONCERNS about anti-social behaviour in the Strand Gardens have led to a town councillor pledging to raise the concerns with police.
At the Annual Town Meeting on Monday, Franklin’s co-owner, Jacquie Haywood, said the new Strand had become a focus for anti-social behaviour – and, if the new Pavilion were built, it would get worse.
She said: “I have to pay a doorman, that’s how bad it is. Kids screaming, yobs drinking and causing trouble. The Strand has turned into a crime hotspot”
Town clerk John Wokersien said that Section 30 Dispersal Orders had worked in the past: “Maybe it is time to do that again,” he added.
Exmouth Town Councillor Steve Gazzard pledged to take the issue up with Inspector Capey at the next meeting of the Community Safety Partnership. “At the meeting on March 30, I will ask the inspector to meet you,” he said.
