Fire crews from across Devon on Monday evening tackled a blaze which engulfed eight-a-half-acres of scrub and woodland on Aylesbeare Common.
Firefighters from Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Topsham, Ottery St Mary, Middlemoor, Sidmouth, Honiton, Cullompton and Exeter were called to the common shortly before 6pm following numerous calls from concerned members of the public.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “On arrival the crews found two seats of fire and got to work immediately.”
