Skateboarding in the Strand in Exmouth. So there is a bye-law relating to behaviour in The Strand.
It could be enforced by the police or council officers, said an East Devon District Council spokesman. So why don’t they?
In reality, all those people seeing skateboarding around the memorial and on the seating are fully entitled by the law to tell the youngsters to stop and to go to the purpose-built skateboard area in Phear Park.
Don’t say the youngsters give abuse. They do not do so when adults speak to them firmly and positively, telling them to stop and have respect for the area, the fittings and other people.
I have done it - and it works. It is up to everybody who is in the area or passing by.
