Lympstone has come together in a massive community effort to open the pre-school’s new nature garden.

Scores of parents, staff, children, Royal Marines, pubs, shops and businesses have either donated cash, materials or got their hands to make the garden into a reality.

Royal Marines from the Commando Training Centre Lympstone including Warrant Officer’s Dean Roberts and John Ather, Sergeants Taff Morris and H Harriman and Lance Corporal Taff Rosser donated wood and worked tirelessly to create the garden.

Dave Tyrell also lent a helping hand while Tesco, Lympstone Londis, The Globe Inn, The Swan Inn, Lympstone Post Office, Shear’s Cafe and Andrea’s Hair Salon donated cash and the Saddlers Arms donated a raffle prize.

Lympstone nurseries donated plants and Jewson’s Exmouth, Green Valley Garden Centre in Ebford, Greenfingers Garden Centre in Exmouth, B&Q in Marsh Barton, King’s Garden Centre and Tree Care Services donated cash, vouchers and discounts.

Chairman Vicki Drinkwater said: “This is the result of a fantastic show of community spirit and a lot of hard work.

“Without such generosity and community spirit it would not have been possible to complete such a fantastic learning resource for our children and on behalf of Lympstone Pre-School, the committee and our children thank you to staff and parents for support with sponsored events and help on the day and to play leader Debbie Foxon and the Royal Marines for all their hard work.”
