Pupils at Drakes Primary School, in East Budleigh, have a new room where they can have some quiet time to reflect or pray.
A mezzanine area above a classroom has been transformed into a quiet room thanks to the fundraising efforts of the school’s PTFA.
The former storage area has undergone a facelift and been enclosed off, fitted with new furniture and stocked with quiet games, to become a place of sanctuary where pupils can also say a prayer.
Drakes school headteacher Carron Saunders said the area had been blessed by Bishop Bob, watched on by the school council, in a bid to encourage the youngsters to develop spirituality.
The Rt Rev Bob Even, Bishop of Crediton, also presented the school with a certificate in recognition of achieving outstanding results in their recent Ofsted inspection.
