Firefighters from Exmouth used a thermal imaging camera to check a fire was out in a light switch in a Brixington shop.
The fire crews were called to McColls, in Pines Road, shortly before 9am on Monday morning.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Two fire appliances from Exmouth attended after reports of a fire in the light fitting.
“Crews used a thermal imaging camera and small tools to make the area safe.”
