A former Exmouth seafront landmark has reopened at a new location, nearly 100 miles away.
The Carriage Café previously stood on the seafront off Queen’s Drive, in the area which East Devon District Council has earmarked for redevelopment.
It was therefore removed from the site last October, and from March 19 will now serve customers at Lappa Valley Steam Railway, near Newquay in Cornwall.
Café owner Keith Southwell, who bought Lappa Valley in 2014, said: “As a Devon boy born and bred I was devastated to move the Carriage Cafe from Exmouth seafront, but sadly was given no choice.
“I am lucky to have been able to relocate the Carriage Café to Lappa Valley Steam Railway in Cornwall and hope visitors will be pleased with its new look in its new home.”
Exmouth residents are invited to have a free tea or coffee at the Carriage, on production of proof of address, when visiting Lappa Valley.
This offer runs until April 30.
