A Royal Marine based at Lympstone CTC has been found not guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in Exmouth. Declan Archer, aged 26, from Kent, denied the charge of sexual assault.
A serving Royal Marine has been cleared of sexually assaulting a woman after a fireworks night party in Exmouth after telling a jury he did not get into bed with her.
Declan Archer was found not guilty within an hour at Exeter Crown Court after denying there had been any form of sexual contact with the woman.
The court heard how Archer had gone to an address in Exmouth after a drunken night out at the fireworks in Exmouth and the Fever nightclub.
Archer was cleared after telling the jury he only went into the bedroom when the woman was in there and that he walked out again when he saw his friend in bed with his arm around her.
Archer, aged 26, of Shepherds Walk, Hythe, Kent, who is currently based at the Commando Training Centre, Lympstone, denied sexual assault and was found not guilty.
