An Exmouth illustrator and designer has improved the town’s transport system overnight, taking his inspiration from London.
Gary Cook, who has worked on various art projects including the beach seawall known as the Abode of Love, thought Exmouth was in need of an underground system, so he has designed a tube map for the town.
The Piccadilly Line has been renamed the ‘Salterton’ line and the Jubilee has become the Foxholes.
Gary said: "The London Tube Map has gone down in history as a peice of classic design.
“It wasn't easy, I wanted to produce something that looked similar to the original and at the same was a true representation of Exmouth.
“I'm hoping when visitors see it, they do a double take and maybe think, for a second that it's real."
Gary added that he hopes everyone who sees it can have a ‘sense of humour’ about it and it open to adapting the design for additional streets and places in Exmouth.
The design was available to see at Scarlet, in The Strand, prior to the national lockdown being announced.
