As it's International Women's Day on Monday, (March 8), the Journal marks the occasion by catching up with a couple of truly inspiring businesswomen who call Exmouth and East Devon their home.

Carol Westacott, owner and manager of property business, Isca Bay, came to live in Exmouth many years ago after her father retired from the army.

For several years she worked for a firm of solicitors, whilst her partner owned and ran Sunshine Rentals, before diversifying into consultancy and mediation. This combined wealth of knowledge in the industry ignited Carol to start her own company, which she did in 2018 when Isca Bay was born.

As a lettings and property rental business, Isca Bay focuses on having an excellent working relationship with both landlords and tenants. Of which, Carol said: "I offer a personal service and take the time to listen and understand both the needs and worries of both landlords and tenants."

She added: "With this in mind, I plan to expand Isca Bay this summer and evolve new ideas."

Georgina Gerry from Coastline Mobility is a sensitive and caring person, it seemed a natural progression after studying for Georgina Gerry to join her family's business, Coastline Mobility, where customers come first. Georgina plays a key role in the business that sells products and services that enhance the quality of life for people with mobility issues. She said: "As a keen photographer and a perfectionist I am really enjoying my marketing role, as well as implementing my strict organisational skills into the office."

"As a young woman, I appreciate that I still have much to learn in my industry and I am excited about the possibilities within our business and its future growth.

"I would like to find a partner and have my own family to work alongside me and continue our hard work."

Outside of work, Georgina enjoys the best of the area calling East Devon 'a perfect home'.

She added: "Our community is so warm and welcoming, a feeling that we endeavour to extend to all our customers. The feeling of adding to this community is important to me."
