Seachange was born, in late 2017. Ever since we have helped foster many local organisation and businesses. Each year we put over £300,000 back into the local economy through employment and social investment.

One such business we have nurtured from the outset is Jurassic Childcare. They are a merry band of 6 early years professionals overseen by Sarka. The children who attend enjoy and achieve in a Montessori inspired and stimulating environment with small, mixed age, class sizes.

The micro nursery offers a great range of activities and excitement for the children who attend including intergenerational activities with the older adults in our activity club and adults with learning disabilities in our Launchpad café.

Emily, the manager, (usually found in various forms of fancy dress) ensures that Jurassic Childcare’s values are always at the forefront of everything they do. They bring vibrance and we appreciate the contribution they make not only to Seachange, but to the learning of the children they care for and the surrounding Budleigh community.

Love is at the heart of everything the team do and together with their location here makes them unique. The children enjoy frequent trips to the beach, library, local parks and they make use of their garden every single day (weather permitting!). During the summer months, they will make the most of their excellent location on the Jurassic Coastline by utilising their own beach hut.

Jurassic Childcare pride themselves on low staff turnover, meaning they have long standing staff which is great for the continuity of the children. Their team includes a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator, Chloe, who has been with the nursery for over 10 years. Morgan is one of their practitioners who has been working with them for just under 5 years. Jacey is another valued practitioner who has been working with them for just under 3 years and Amelia is their new childcare apprentice who started with the nursery back in April. They also provide work experience opportunities for students with learning disabilities from Millwater and Oakwood schools.

Seachange and Jurassic Childcare have worked together to create a bespoke childcare setting and the results speak for themselves. The children love to attend and they really brighten everyone’s day as they say hello when walking in and out to the garden holding their snake walking lead.

The nursery recently hosted a safari themed picnic for their children, giving children along with parents and carers the opportunity to come and enjoy some food, light-hearted chit chat and the chance to see some unusual animals up close.

Do you want to see how they truly integrate with all aspects of Seachange and improve children’s lives? Come along on the 13th August when they will be hosting an open day between 10 am and 2 pm. There will be food, games, face painting, balloon modelling and Chris will be back to show off his exotic animals again.
