COMMUNITY groups, organisations and residents can now apply for a slice of 20,000 Town Hall funding to pay for projects that will enhance the quality of life for people in Exmouth.

The fund is to be split three ways between the arts, leisure and the environment and proposed projects should relate to one of those three areas.

Applications will be judged initially on how much the proposal brings about improvements in the town, the number of people who will benefit or if it improves environmental sustainability.

Other criteria include whether the scheme improves the appearance of the street scene, if it improves social cohesion, addresses a particular social problem or an on-going source of complaint or even reduces the fear of crime

Grants will also be considered if the proposal economically benefit the town, promote the 'good name' and 'competitive advantage' of Exmouth or if it improves the provision of local arts or sport.

The Mayor Darryl Nicholas said: "I am pleased to launch the Project Fund of 20,000 for this year to help local groups in particular to fund projects which will benefit the wider community."

The Town Council wishes to encourage applications and application forms are obtainable on the grants page of www.exmouth.gov.uk or from the Town Hall.
