I am so very, very sorry to learn today (31 January) of Uncle Norman’s death. He and Joan lived at 42 (Bosley) Bradham Lane and we lived at number 50. Joan and mum were friends - up until Joan’s death, on 9 July 2009. And mum and I - of course! - stayed in touch with Norman. Joan and Norman brought fresh broad beans from the garden to Pine Ridge on the Saturday before my father’s death in 2002 - and they were part of Dad’s last meal. And cooked as his mother cooked them, double shelled, par boiled and fried in butter! Uncle Norman and I stayed in touch and I called in on 15 December last year with his Christmas present. I promised to call him on Christmas Day, which I did and New Year’s Day and then 3 January. No reply on any occasion. The last time, I left my number and said if he was unwell, perhaps someone could call me. I am beyond sorry to have missed his funeral. God bless Uncle Norman. You were a good, kind man and a loving husband to Aunty Joan. I shall miss you enormously. Part of my childhood and my life, now gone for ever. Much love and very fond memories x x x
