14-8-2008: TRIBUTES have been pouring in for an Exmouth DJ who died after being struck by a train.

Luke Santer, 28, of Exeter Road, died instantly when he was hit by a First Great Western train near Exeter on July 30.

After he was formally identified an inquest was opened and adjourned by the Exeter and Greater Devon coroner.

Dad to seven-year-old Archie, Luke, a DJ at the Viper, was thought to have stepped out in front of the train.

The British Transport Police say they are not treating the death as suspicious.

Luke's funeral will take place at Exeter Crematorium on Tuesday August 19 at 2pm.

The humanist service is open to anyone who knew him.

Luke's father, Roger Santer, said his son had been battling a heroin addiction for about a year.

Scores of friends have left tributes to Luke on networking site Facebook.

Chammy Mountford, the mother of Luke's young son, said her son had a 'gentle spirit' just like his dad.

She wrote: "He was the apple of Luke's eye and he wouldn't have wanted Archie to suffer for his decision.

"Archie has very spiritual ideas about where his daddy is now, that have come from his own thoughts and something tells me he's right. Luke left the most precious thing behind and I cherish him dearly as I'm sure many of you do. We love you and miss you Luke xxxx."

Shaun Howell, from Exmouth, posted: "I can't believe this Luke. You never had a bad thing to say about anyone, only saw you recently. Wish people could have done more. You will be missed R.I.P."

James Watson wrote: "Luke Santer was someone that always had words to say above his years and words that made sense in every inspiring way."

Dave Gillard posted: This has shocked me and have had you on my mind the last few days. I hope you are at peace and even though we weren't close friends only wish people could have done more. R.I.P. Luke."

Zoe Pearson wrote: "So tragic, far too young to die. Hope you're at peace wherever you are Luke xxx."

* Flowers can be sent to Richard W Gegg funeral directors, in Rolle Street, or taken to the crematorium.

Floral tributes will be donated to a local hospice after the service.

READERS' TRIBUTES:

I knew Luke when he was young. Even at three years old the light shone from him. It is tragic that light has been extinguished. I hope he is at peace with his mother.
