Exmouth’s new Tourist Information Service (TIS) on The Strand is now open.
It has taken the town hall just two months to make it a reality.
The wooden building was delivered on Friday, with mayor Bill Nash and volunteers working all weekend to ensure that it was ready for the opening on Tuesday.
The TIS has Wi-Fi for visitors to use, a computer information point, leaflets and two volunteers manning it from 9.30am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.
The service will open until September, be packed away once visitor numbers drop, then open again next May.
Cllr Nash said: “It’s amazing that we have got it ready in just two months, although we would have liked to have opened it in June.
“Thanks to the Journal’s help we now have 12 volunteers – but we need more.”
He added: “I also want to thank everyone involved, including town hall staff Molly, Rons, Sue and Cara, who have been giving out tourist information up until this point, and our new town clerk Lisa, who has been very supportive.”
