Detailed plans for hundreds of new homes in Exmouth have been supported by town councillors, after a developer’s rethink which addressed their previous concerns.
The proposal for 350 homes at Plumb Park, around Donkey Hill at the end of Buckingham Close, received outline approval in 2013.
Developer Littleham 2010 and housebuilder Taylor Wimpey applied earlier this year for full permission for 264 of these homes, alongside outline permission for the remaining 86, but were initially opposed by Exmouth Town Council’s planning committee, with councillors citing issues including a lack of ‘pepper-potting’ – where ‘affordable’ homes should be spread among open-market properties. The committee this week considered a revised application, and councillors said that their concerns had now been addressed, and therefore voted to support.
Councillor Bill Nash said: “They have come back and seem to have answered everything we said.”
East Devon District Council will decide on permission.
