TRIBUTES have been pouring in for Budleigh Salterton woman Peggy Manicom, who gave her life to the town.
A 'popular' character, Peggy will be best remembered for her dedication in promoting tourism in Budleigh.
President and twice chairman of the town's chamber of commerce, she also managed the Tourist Information Centre for 12 years and was a town councillor.
Present chamber of commerce chairman Alan Tilbury said: "Budleigh Salterton is a better place because of the work and dedication of Peggy."

It was thanks to Peggy's dedication that Budleigh now has a town guide and also the popular late night Christmas shopping evening.
And she was the first chairman of the East Devon Promotions Committee - a group driven by Peggy after the district council did away with its tourism officer.

Friend Sandie George, and fellow committee member, said: "Thanks to Peggy's hard work, gradually the visitor numbers started to increase and East Devon Promotions Committee became a force to be reckoned with within the district council.
"Peggy made the pathway to EDDC for others to benefit but she, herself, would say that it could not have been done without the support of her husband, John."
