Woodbury Parish Council has objected to plans to build 15 new homes in the village.
The plan would see the homes – ten of which would be classed as affordable – built on a site adjoining Town Lane.
Councillors objected to the plan on the grounds that there would be problems with traffic congestion, and that there was a lack of pedestrian facilities along Town Lane towards the village school, which was felt to be a safety issue.
Councillors were also concerned that the plan would be detrimental to the setting of Knoll Cottage and the surrounding area, and that the council was unaware of any demand for the new homes, with the village’s housing survey out of date.
The plan will now be considered by East Devon District Council.
