District planners have rubber-stamped a reduction in affordable housing at a proposed housing development in Littleham.
Pankhurst Fish Limited received planning permission in 2013 to build 50 homes at Pankhurst Close Trading Estate.
That application included 40 per cent affordable housing, but the developer has now come back to East Devon District Council (EDDC), asking to change this to 25 per cent affordable housing. District planning officers advised that this was in line with Strategy 34 of the emerging new Local Plan for development in East Devon, and members of EDDC’s development management committee approved the change.
Councillor Mark Williamson said: “We are getting some affordable housing, not as much as we had anticipated, but this is a good development.
“It does feel as though the rug has been pulled from under our feet by Strategy 34.”
