Tribute to Mark Gerry

EXMOUTH dentist and father of two, Mark Gerry, has died less than a year after he was diagnosed with cancer.
EXMOUTH dentist and father of two, Mark Gerry, has died less than a year after he was diagnosed with cancer. He was 56.Mark moved to Exmouth in 1984 with his wife Sue and two-year-old daughter Naomi. Their son Aidan was born the following year.Although born in Plymouth, Mark moved with his parents to Camborne, in Cornwall when he was seven. He later attended Truro School, having won a scholarship.After A-Levels, he studied Dentistry at Dundee University, qualifying in 1977. He then went on to practise in Tenterden, Kent, Hayle in Cornwall, Brixham in Devon and Ledbury in Herefordshire before moving to Exmouth.He bought his own practice in Exeter Road, eventually moving to Victoria Road, in 1990.Mark was divorced bur remarried in December last year. His wife Margot has been caring for him at home in Belle Vue Road, Exmouth, since he was diagnosed with lung cancer last June.Mark enjoyed a number of hobbies including travelling, photography, music and sailing. He was active in the community being a member of Exe Sailing Club and a member and former chairman of Exmouth Round Table.He was a keen and talented photographer but most of all an accomplished organist. He played a number of instruments including the saxophone, guitar and the organ and enjoyed listening to music.His desire for travelling was coupled with his love of photography and he was known for the many striking pictures he would bring home from all over the globe.A service and burial is taking place today (Thursday), at Littleham Parish Church, at 4pm.The family has requested no flowers but instead donations to FORCE Cancer Care in Exeter.
