Plans have been put forward to build 21 new homes in East Budleigh.

Landowner Clinton Devon Estates has put forward the plan for the homes, 40 per cent of which would be classed as affordable, at the east end of the village, on a field between the B3178 at Oak Hill and Syon House.

The site was previously controversial when East Devon District Council (EDDC) earmarked it to provide the homes allocated to East Budleigh in the draft district Local Plan for housing, contrary to the village’s preference for Carter’s Yard, as expressed in a village poll.

Access to the proposed development for cars would be from Frogmore Road, but the applicant says there will also be a pedestrian access on to Oak Hill.

East Budleigh Parish Council will consider the planning application when it meets at the village hall on Tuesday at 7.30pm, with viewing of plans from 7pm.

EDDC will subsequently rule on planning permission.
