East Budleigh Reserves moved to the top of Division 4 with an excellent team display to beat Sidmouth 4-2 at Vicarage Road last Saturday.
In what was a lively start, Budleigh struck first, Tom Christian with a fine cross for Nathan Penhallurick who produced an equally good headed finish, but Budleigh’s joy was short lived as the away side were level from a free-kick soon after.
On 14 minutes, the Jays were back in front. Owen Corrick played the ball into the box and as a Sidmouth defender cleared, the ball struck Dan Atkinson and looped into the net.
An own goal made it 3-1, with Ben Wiltshire and Ryan Britton both producing tidy performances for a team that confirmed victory with another good move, that also ended with an own goal.
With the final whistle looming host keeper Chris Wardle made a wonderful fingertip save, but could do nothing as the away side grabbed a second consolation from the resultant corner.
