Students from Exmouth Community College have just completed a five-night run of Matilda the Musical Junior.
A spokesman for Exmouth Community College said: "In a performance which was a worthy rival to the West End production a cast of over 70 amazed and delighted over 1000 audience members over the course of the week. Directed by Jez Turner and Roxanne Merry, in collaboration with musical and voice directors, Paul Stock and Kate Lees.
"This inspiring story of a girl who dreamt of a better life was a showcase of superb singing, creative choreography, outstanding acting, clever casting and fantastic sets. The energy, versatility, emotion and hard work of everybody involved was reflected back by the audience every single night in the form of a standing ovation and rave reviews.
"The show was the first to take place in the new school theatre – and what a show it was. It was quite simply outstanding.
