Budleigh Runners showed their appreciation of the Parkrun organisers by taking all the volunteer positions for their run on Saturday (October 14).

Members served as marshals, scanners, pacers and all other supporting roles, as more than 400 people ran or walked the five-kilometre route.

Budleigh Runners member Jonathan Shipton said: "We have club members who run and volunteer every week at Parkrun, but we wanted to show how much we appreciate what the core team achieve every week for local people, keeping them fit and active.

"We decided the best way was to give our time to support them and take over all volunteer positions across the whole of the Parkrun. The whole club embraced the idea and I’m sure it’s something we will do more often going forward. It’s great to give something back to our community and thank Parkrun for putting on this weekly event for free."

Budleigh Runners celebrate their fourth anniversary this month and now have more than 80 members who enjoy keeping fit while being sociable and having company while running.

The club - whose motto is 'A pace for everyone' - welcomes new members. It has a run/walk group on Monday evenings for people who are starting out or recovering from injury, a 10K run on Wednesday evenings, a 5k casual run on Fridays, the Parkrun on Saturdays and a 5k trail run on Sundays.
