Flashaback: one-act play festival winners at the Blackmore Theatre in 2015

The Blackmore Theatre in Exmouth’s Bicton Street once again plays host to the Exmouth Amateur Festival of One Act Plays this year, which runs from Monday, April 3, to Saturday, April 8, writes Trevor Brice of the Exmouth Players.

The event is organised by volunteers of the Exmouth Players. It is quite a huge challenge, but one which is very rewarding. We are grateful to the Devoncourt Resort, who, again, are sponsoring this event.

This is the preliminary round of the Western Division of the All England Theatre Festival 2017. This year we welcome Mr Alan Hayes GoDA as our adjudicator.

The participating societies are Mezzalchemy, Teignmouth Players, Ottery Community Theatre, Axminster Drama Club, Mezzamorphoses, the Exmouth Players, Sid Vale, SADS Youth and SADS Juniors, TIPPS, Exeter Little Theatre Company and Salterton Drama Club.

The final running order is available at or on our Blackmore Facebook page, or on flyers from the theatre with a full list on display.

Following the adjudicator’s comments after the final performance on the Saturday evening will be the awards ceremony, with cups and trophies for best actor, youth group, original play and more. The final award will be given to the winning society for best play who has elected to go on through to the regional quarter-finals, which this year is being organised by the Teignmouth Players. Tickets are from £5 per performance. Season tickets (all performances) are from £25. Call Ticketline 07484 509514. Box office opens March 27.
