Axminster Arts have held musical events in the Courtyard garden in Church Street ever since it first opened the Arts Café in 1999, but it was in the Summer of 2007 that the annual Arts in the Garden season began.

Over the past five years, it has gone from strength to strength.

This year’s season will once again be started off with Clive Smith and his Arcadia Jazz Band, who will be performing in the courtyard garden on Saturday, June 2, between 11am and 1pm.

This will also be the opening event of the four-day programme of Jubilee celebrations.

The season will be rounded off at the end of September with Clive Smith and his Dixielanders.

All events are free to the public.

Axminster Arts are hoping to put together a varied programme and are currently taking applications from all of those people who wish to participate, the closing date for which is Sunday, April 1.

Sponsorship is available for each event.

The Arts in the Garden season is divided into three categories: Performing arts music, dance and drama events - which will take place on Saturday mornings throughout the summer.

Workshops/demonstrations, which will take place on Wednesday lunchtimes during July only.

An art and craft fair, which will be held on the morning of Saturday, June 30.

Stalls are free on a first-come, first-served basis.
