The Axe Valley Community Choir were delighted to perform a charity concert on behalf of the Rotary Club of Axminster in the Guildhall on Saturday, February 23.

Playing to a packed audience, the choir sang a variety of songs arranged by musical director, Edward Jacobs who also accompanied them on the piano.

As well as directing the choir, Edward also works as a performer , music teacher and music consultant. He spends part of his week in Cornwall and one of his talented pupils, Shannah Russell, 10, made a special appearance singing Tomorrow from Annie.

Jonathan Davies a talented local, age 18, played several pieces on saxophone demonstrating considerable ability in his improvisation skills.

Tina Mackenney supported Edward by accompanying the choir on keyboard and Jess Underwood, a guest professional singer from Plymouth, sang three pieces which included Diamonds are Forever and The Way We Were.

The voices of the choir harmoniously filled the room to a very responsive audience who didn’t want the evening to end. The choir did an encore of Rhythm of Life and ended with their signature song I Made It Through The Rain.
