Gadjo will be performing at Jurassic Folk Summer Special, on Wednesday, August 22, at the Grove, Seaton, 7.45pm.
They have been based in Barcelona for nine years. The leader, if there is such a thing in this pulsing commune, is Fraggle, vocals and accordion, from England, as is Sam, clarinet, saxes from Devon, Emma, saxes, flute from Norfolk, and George, double bass, trumpet, vocals from Somerset/Devon.
Then we have Paul, euphonium, trumpet, harmonica from Maryland, USA, Xabi, guitar, banjo, vocals from the Basque country, France, and Jerry, percussion, vocals from La Plata, Argentina, and everybody sings in their own tongue when so inspired.
They are undoubtedly one of the most exciting bands anywhere, both to the ear and to the eye, combining serious musical ability with humour and irrepressible joie de vivre.
Advance price tickets at £7 are available from www.eastdevonfolk.org or 01297 20064.
