an art exhibition takes place at The National Trust’s A la Ronde house in Exmouth from Thursday, August 23, till Wednesday, September 5.
The house is open from 11am to 5pm every day during that period.
Originally from the Piemonte region of Italy, Mariangela has lived in East Devon for over 30 years. Having always been interested in art, painting and exhibiting, she achieved her lifelong ambition when she studied for a degree in Art and Art History at Plymouth University, graduating in 1995.
She followed this with an M.Phil, specialising in twentieth century painting.
Her solo exhibition of recent work, Time Past and Time Present, takes place at the National Trust’s A la Ronde and Mariangela told the Journal: “The warm and intimate atmosphere of the gallery at A la Ronde is well-suited to my works. I’m fascinated by the way old familiar objects and places can be revisited and reinterpreted after time has passed.”
Her paintings are inspired by images from memories of her life, originally in Italy and, more recently, here in Devon.
The warm colours of Italy celebrate the architectural spaces of its Renaissance piazze or its narrow, winding streets, whilst here in Devon, her work has been deeply influenced by the effect of the changing seasons on the lush landscape.
She has exhibited in Italy and in the UK both in solo and group shows.
