One of the UK’s most exciting and innovative Jazz theatre companies, Body Of People aka BOP present their groundbreaking contemporary jazz theatre production MILES AHEAD.

BOP artistic directors, Dollie Henry (choreographer) and Paul Jenkins (composer) have created a breathtaking evening of jazz theatre with two captivating programs.

Program One - Footprints in Jazz is a suite of concert jazz dance pieces that captures the individual and collective creative expression of the BOP company. Set to original jazz compositions and arrangements. Step by step, story by story, the BOP dancers take you on a theatrical journey tracing the myriad of Jazz styles, artistic interpretations and technical panache that is jazz theatre.

Program Two - Touches of Miles, pays homage to the life and music of jazz trumpeter and composer Miles Davis. In this original jazz theatre creation a selection of Miles’ classic compositions including; All Blues, So What, Tutu, Milestones and Aranjuez lay the canvas for enthralling jazz choreography and dance that colourfully weaves through each variation of the music capturing the cool, enigmatic and distinctive style reminiscent of a true jazz legend.

At the Exmouth Pavilion on Wednesday, May 1, tickets priced £15.50.

On a bleak November day in London in 1993, singer Paul Young was pondering how to break the album/promotion/tour routine that to be honest, was becoming a little predictable after 10 years of being a solo performer. And anyway, he missed the camaraderie of just being a band member. So he called around some of his friends and members of his previous line-ups through the years to find out who would be interested in forming a loose, relaxed Tex-Mex group for some impromptu gigs.
