A 30-stall Farmers Market, located on the Paddock Lawn, will showcase the very best of what the Somerset community has to offer. Racegoers will have the chance to taste, sample and purchase from a wealth of suppliers that include Hill Cider, The Wicked Chilli, Fudge Feniton Foods, Winnie Bakery and more.
Food and Farming Raceday will also stage two Dorset Farmers Market Mobile Kitchen demonstrations with an interactive element that caters for all ages.
Keeping things local, Wincanton’s Food and Farming Raceday has recruited Glastonbury-based Claire Whiteley for a 25-minute sheepdog and duck herding display to music. Additional complimentary children’s entertainment will be available from the traditional bouncy castles, to happy bouncers, ball ponds and obstacle courses.
Coupled with seven quality races that will attract the support from the sports top players, Wincanton’s Food and Farming Raceday provides a full day’s entertainment from just £12 or £24 entry for a family of four. Book in advance on 0844 579 3014 or wincantonracecourseco.uk
Steve Parlett, General Manager, Wincanton Racecourse, says: “Wincanton is rural racing at its best and with a large proportion of racegoers immersed in farming, we knew that this themed raceday would strike a chord. Fanny Charles and the Wincanton team have done a marvellous job event planning and we look forward to celebrating and enjoying the West Country’s finest produce.”
Fanny Charles, Farmers Market Event Organiser, adds: “I was thrilled to support our local racecourse in staging their first ever Food and Farming Raceday. Somerset and Dorset traders have welcomed the opportunity to embrace the racing community and we look forward to this popular raceday.”
