Exmouth Amateurs Ladies 3, Activate Ladies 0
Ammies progressed to the next round of the League cup after a dominant performance over their Premier League visitors.
Activate started the brighter and forced home keeper Rose into a smart save inside five minutes.
In contrast the Ammies start was sluggish, but they slowly found their feet and were given a spark when a Wills strike drew a fine save from the visiting keeper.
It was the pace down the flanks of wingers Worsley and Wills that was the biggest threat with the Activate full-backs clearly troubled by the pair.
Hawkins thought she had given Ammies the lead as she got an outstretched boot to a Worsley cross, but the ball fell kindly into the keeper’s hands.
Ammies finally broke the deadlock after half an hour when Cordwell, playing behind the main striker, threaded a great pass through to Worsley who steadied herself before firing high into the net to give Ammies the lead at the break.
Ammies controlled the second half playing some good possession football and created a host of chances.
Wills, Worsley, Hawkins, Cordwell and Sharpe all had efforts saved as Ammies again struggled to turn clear dominance into goals, but with the back four looking rock solid and Activate pushing more forward in search of an equaliser Ammies were able to catch their opponents on the break . Harkness split the defence with a great ball that Wills strode onto it before slotting past the keeper and then Wills turned provider to set up Hawkins to complete the scoring.
