Woodbury Park press officer signs off after three superb years with the pen

08:28 06 February 2014

The ladies’ competition was Three Clubs and a Putter, a team game testing players’ versatility in the use of equipment, writes Carole Pye.

With bad weather forecast the game was limited to nine holes.

Di Alford and Hilary Richardson (26) took first place on the Acorns (this is the second week running Hilary has won on the Acorns).

Marleen Johnson, Jasmine Clapson and Gina Cox were the overall winners on the Oaks with 27 points.

The weekend competition, an American Greensomes attracted a very reasonable field as members took advantage of the break in the rain.

After countback, David Cooling and Richard Jenner (45) were declared the winners just nudging out Matthew Smith and Stuart Winks.

With a better back nine, Paul Crafer and John Collier-Marsh (44) were third ahead of the father and son pairing of Chaz and Chris Turner.

The new year has brought a few changes to Woodbury Park.

New captains have taken over their duties and the main committee has some new faces whilst the clubhouse is having a radical makeover which will open up the dining area to provide excellent facilities for both members and visiting public alike.

After three years as press officer for the club, Carole Pye has penned her last offering from Woodbury Park and all at the Exmouth Journal thank her for her sterling efforts over the last few years.
