The first Tuesday of March saw the Woodbury Park ladies’ attend a County meeting preceeded by a 9-hole competition on both the clubs couresrs, writes John Bridgman.

Forty-seven ladies participated and the winner on the Oaks was Sara Beavon with 25 points, beating Sue Persey on countback. On the Acorns, Hilary Richardson beat Pam Knibb with 22 points.

A two course lunch was enjoyed as the ladies’ captain Sara Beavon gave updates on County matters. A number of new regulations were addressed by the handicap secretary Mickie Ward and the meeting ended at 4pm.

Last Wednesday a team played the young gentlemen of Millfield School and the teachers at Burnham in what has become an annual occurrence on a home and away basis.

The school were the victors this time out and our team will have to do much better next time!

Last Sunday proved to be a glorious day for golf as over 40 teams of pairs played American Greensomes where once again the first three had to be separated by countback after all finished with a splendid 47 points.

In first place were T Part and D Cawse, second were R Lake and M Bird and third were D Wilson and R Lambeth.

Let us hope that a good spell of weather will give the courses time to dry sufficiently well so that we the golfers can get on with the job of improving our game as well as enjoying it to the full!
