The Woodbury Park course has had a chance to dry out as the first signs of spring take place, writes John Bridgman.
This was certainly appreciated by the senior element that played a Texas Scramble last week.
Mike Dickens, David Morris and Brian Smith ran out the winners with 74 points. Countback was used to separate the first two teams with Adrian Foster, Brian Leonard and Ray Dwan edged into second place after they also carded 74 points whilst a single point behind, and thus third, were John Man, Norman Baker and Robert Hayman.
Highlight of the week for the members of the club was the official opening of the clubhouse following an extensive alteration.
There was a good turnout last Wednesday evening and a packed new bar area was officially opened by the owners Robin and Sue Hawkins, Joe Hammond, the Woodbury park managing director and master of ceremonies told of the expectancy the changes will have for the clubs immediate future.
On Sunday a Four Ball Better Ball competition was won by Harry Flower and Paul Reed with 42 points, edging out John Breading and Andy Wescott on countback.
Paul Voaden and Simon Courtney were third with 41. Alan Lake and Barry Parfitt took fourth place on 40 points.
Duane Greenslade and Micheal Delahaye beat Chris Wright and Richard Thomason on countback for fifth place.
