Woodbury were unable to end a bullish rear guard action by hosts Newton St Cyres and so had to settle for a draw on their visit to the Mid Devon villagers.
The Woods batted first and closed on 199-6. Anish Chouhan (41) and 15-year-old Rhiordan Deehan-Jackson (32) together with Nalin Chouhan (29), Martin Cook (24), Liam Cook (24) and Danny Lowman (21) were the principle run getters.
Anish Chouhan and young Deehan-Jackson put on 75 for the third wicket whilst Nalin Chouhan and Martin Cook added 55 for the unbroken sixth wicket.
The Newton St Cyres reply closed on 167-7 with their final pair at the wicket as they played the game with just nine players. Toby Ingham took the bowling honours with 3-27 from 13 overs whilst skipper Kev Miller had 2-29 and Nalin Chouhan competed a fine all-round effort with 1-28.
Skipper Miller said: “It was very encouraging to see the runs shared round with most of the batsmen chipping in. We then came up against a very stubborn batsman who served his cause well to deny us victory.”
On Saturday Woodbury travel to Culmstock.
