Withycombe Under-9s had almost a full squad for their derby match with neighbours Exmouth at Raleigh Park, and they again showed excellent team play to record a brace of victories.

The opening game saw Withy race out of the blocks scoring two tries in as many early minutes and they never looked back.

With some exceptional tackling, the Cockles were continually forced onto the back foot.

Speed and agility came to the fore Withy as they romped to an emphatic 60-10 success.

Erin Asselman, Charlie Passmore and Harry Bennett all had hat-tricks and there were single scores from Alfie Gillard, Ollie Hempstead and the tough tackling, Man of the Match Harry Williams.

The second game saw more of the same, though the contest was closer than the 50-15 in favour of Withy outcome suggests!

Exmouth were clearly up for the challenge and presented themselves well with hard tackling and forcing errors from Withycombe which resulted in three fine tries for the young Cockles.

Withy do not have the biggest of players in this age group, but they more than make up for that with incredible pace and honest determination.

Charlie Passmore bagged a second treble of the morning and there was a brace of tries from Joseph Bowden together with single scores from Alfie Gillard, Harry Williams, Paddy McGuinness, Erin Asselman and Callum Tose.
