Brixham 3, Withycombe 15
Withycombe Under-10s were in good form as they romped to success at Brixham.
They dominated from the first whistle, competing well in all areas to set up a continual number of raids on the Brixham try line.
There were eight first half scores with the Withy control emphasised by the fact that just one was scored by the home team! Brixham battled hard and made Withy work to Withies.
Despite the flattering score line Brixham battled hard at the breakdown to secure ball, often rucking the visitors clean off.
Any Brixham possession was soon halted by ferocious Withy tackling and ripping to win back ball.
The pleasing aspect of this match was the Withy teamwork with the ball typically passing through at least three pairs of hands before a try was scored.
It was a very competent display of doing the basics very well coupled with excellent teamwork to release the runners out wide.
The Withy try scorers were; Ben Wilkinson (4), Tom Real (2), Jayden Gore (2), Matthew Edworthy (2), Will Jones(2), whilst there were single scores from Tom Humphry, Will Cooper and Max Rickards.
The Man of the Match award was shared between Jake Diprose and Matthew Hicks for all round contribution and involvement.
A second more evenly-balanced training match was played between the two sides after the main game and Withy won this 4-1 to round off an excellent morning of rugby.
