The Budleigh indoor season is now underway and the opening match in the popular Tuesday morning mixed triples league resulted in a narrow win for the Willow team.
With a single end remaining the Beech squad were holding a two shot advantage, but hopes of their first victory were dashed when Lilian Grainger, Dick Mitchell and John Dill scored three to win 16-15.
This week sees the staging of the opening matches in the Budleigh Evening Triples League which is sponsored by local High Street Solicitors, Symes, Robinson and Lee.
The league is supported by teams from Madeira (two), Exonia and Sidmouth in addition to the three home sides, the Buzzards, the Hawks and the Falcons.
The competition is noted for producing close matches, played in the right spirit and this season’s programme promises to be no exception.
Budleigh hold an Open Day this Saturday (October 12) with a 10am start and running through until 12.30pm.
Members of the public are invited to visit Cricket Field Lane for a free indoor bowling trial.
Equipment can be provided and a qualified coach will be in attendance to provide tuition for newcomers and for established bowlers who wish to hone their skills.
Free coaching is available at other times and anyone interested is asked to contact Tony Dealler on 446524.
