Weekender ceases point to point coverage

12:45 07 November 2012

The Racing Post Weekender has informed The Point-to-Point Racing Company and the Point-to-Point Authority (PPA) that it will no longer be covering Point-to-Pointing and will not therefore require the Point-to-Point information supplied by The Point-to-Point Racing Company.

Naturally The Point-to-Point Racing Company is disappointed to lose the Weekender both as a client and also for the excellent coverage the newspaper gave the sport. However we respect their decision to withdraw from covering Point-to-Pointing as they felt that they could no longer commercially justify continued coverage of the sport within the newspaper.

The Point-to-Point Racing Company is currently talking to alternative media outlets in order to retain National coverage for the sport. There are several options being explored and the Company hopes to be in a position to announce these soon. Any announcements will be made on www.pointtopoint.co.uk and as many other information channels as possible.

In the meantime the Company is enhancing its own existing services and in the case of www.pointtopoint.co.uk, this will for the first time be carrying extended entries and results information online from next season.

Both the PPA and The Point-to Point Racing Company are fully aware of the importance of wide ranging coverage for the sport and at the same time wish to continue looking after the sport’s loyal followers with excellent services and publications.
