Exe Table Tennis club held its junior Christmas fun tournament last Tuesday evening, writes Richard Wellington.
Twelve juniors took part in a ‘Top Table’ competition.
The format for this is that six tables are set up and everyone plays to six points, the winner moves one table to the right and the loser one table to the left.
After 30 minutes play Joel Potten and Billy Cresswell had both made it to the top table, but had been knocked down by Cassian Tushingham and Matthew Wellington who were declared the winners.
Players on the top table and bottom table then fought it out, Ryan Vertigan beat Brad Denham and Tushingham won against Wellington.
The two winners then played to 11 points, but with a seven point handicap which was too much to make up and Vertigan won.
The twelve juniors next took part in ‘round the table’ where, with two lives, they take it in turns to return a shot and then run around two tables and join the back of the queue ready for the next shot.
It’s a good way to keep fit and show their table tennis skills!
Matthew Wellington won round one and Jared Guy won round two.
A big thank you to Ashley Vertigan for organising the evening and Howard Back, club coach for all his efforts.
