Underwood triumphant in August medal

Sally Underwood continued her great summer of golf to win the August medal competition at East Devon Golf Club, writes Helen Chivers.

Underwood shot a terrific five under par round of nett 69 in a close fought strokeplay competition between 64 players.

This saw Sally take top spot in Silver Division by one shot from Lisa Tinsley, who was four under par on nett 74.

Joy Wisdom took third place with a one under par round of nett 73, with four players two shots back on nett 75 – Anne Boyle taking fourth place on countback from Lea Finding, Alison Corney and Sue Burley.

Elaine Curel took first place in an equally competitive Bronze Division. Her one under par nett 73 was the best in division on countback from Pauline Richards and Shirley Pressey. Linda Holdway and Val Humphrey were a shot further back on level par nett 74, with Linda narrowly taking fourth place on countback.
