A ninety third minute goal gave Witheridge a 1-1 draw on Tuesday evening preventing Exmouth Town making it eight league wins out of nine, writes John Dibsdall.
A strong wind blowing straight down the pitch was of little help to either side and as often the case the side playing against the wind were able to play the more controlled football.
Town had the better of the first half with Dan Boere having an effort cleared off the line and then heading narrowly over.
On twenty minutes Ace High continued his scoring streak when he converted a pass from Boere, Ace having now scored in his last five games.
The second half saw Witheridge take the game to Town who were pinned back for long periods as the hosts pressed forward with good control and movement. Despite the pressure Town were able to create two good chances with Jamie Mudge evading his marker to shoot narrowly past the post and Boere firing over.
Stand in ‘keeper Lee Bailey pulled off a couple of good saves to preserve Town’s lead but was powerless to prevent the equaliser from a close range shot.
Whilst a draw was no more than Witheridge deserved for their second half performance Town’s overall effort and commitment earnt them the point that has maintained their lead at the head of the table.
