Wellington 1, East Budleigh 0

It was like World Cup ‘66 re-visited in this encounter as East Budleigh were the team denied the lead, whilst the home side grabbed their winner in similar circumstance, writes Mark Auton.

Budleigh marginally had the better of it, but in what was a midfield battle from whixh a draw would have been a fair outcome.

In the first half Jack Howarth thought he had given Budleigh the lead before his effort was cleared from behind the goalline, unfortunately the home linesman refused to help the referee with his decision and the goal was ruled out.

In the second half the same thing happened at the other end with the goal being given.

Si Tuley was probably Budleigh’s best player and went closest to an equalizer.

Budleigh must now pick themselves up for a trip to the University of Exeter on Saturday.
