Andrzej Sobczak, Kingsley Bungard and Austin Barrett (74) won the Woodbury Park seniors’ roll-up, writes Carole Pye.
With a Score of 71, Norman Baker, Keith Lunness and Alan Stone were the runners-up.
Having played and beaten Royal North Devon at home, the seniors looked forward to the away leg of their friendly fixture.
The RND course is the oldest in Britain and next year celebrates its 150th year.
The course is demanding enough, but combined with a force five wind it proved a daunting challenge.
Nevertheless, Woodbury came away with a four-and-a-half to two-and-a-half defeat, the same score by which Woodbury won at home.
The seniors’ friendly away match against Lyme Regis was played in warm benign conditions on a perfect course making the total overall win for Woodbury
Hosting the last friendly of the season against Exminster the Acorn ladies came away with a 3-1 win.
Richard Wallace comfortably won the midweek stableford with 43 points Kevin Morgan was runner-up after count-back.
The penultimate trophy game of the season was the 36 hole Hawkins Trophy, spread over two weekends’.
Playing a stableford the first weekend and a medal the second.
The winner of the trophy was Alan Marriott, with John Collier-Marsh second.
