Kenn’s ability to bowl straight proved the decisive factor in this contest!

While Topsham St James bowled more wides, the hosts took more wickets, mostly cleaned bowled. The pick of the Tops bowlers were the opening pair of Rhys Norman and Noah Hart, the latter claiming a wicket in his first over. Joel Anderson had the best figures and it was he who took the only other Kenn wicket to fall as they closed on 175-2.

Gilbert Forster showed again that he has the makings of a fine wicketkeeper, ensuring extras were kept to a minimum.

The Tops’ batsmen struggled to make headway and by far the most successful duo were Isaac Isard and Harvey Shillingford who added 17 to the total without losing a wicket.

Shillingford bravely battled on after taking a hard knock on the arm to the first ball he received. Freddie Bridger and Sam Harding were the last two Tops batters and, although they went for some big hits, the reply ended well short.
