On Sunday the Topsham bowls club players turned out to pay tribute to David Tucker for his 40 years continuous service as club secretary from 1973 to 2013, writes Colin Chudley.
After the pre-game spider won by Amy Stone, a bowls drive took place between the teams of David Tucker and President Ivor Skilton.
It was a brightly coloured and very noisy affair and enjoyed by all the players.
The secretary’s team won, with the score 132-94 and the drive winners were Alan Woodley, Doreen Richards, Mike Mills and Keith Chester.
This was followed by a tasty fish and chip supper.
The clubs longest playing member Adrian Elson made the presentation of a Dartington glass bowl and in his speech he thanked David for his drive and determination which helped turned Topsham from a small, town club, into one of the premier clubs in the country.
