Topsham Bowls Club finished the 2013 season with their final fling day when the new captain Peter Greeno’s team played a side chosen by the president Ivor Skilton, writes Colin Chudley.
Unfortunately, the weather was not very good and the rain meant that the game was cut game short at eight ends and it was decided to call the result of the game a draw. All the players headed into the clubhouse for a tea provided by Margaret and Brian Ewings to celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary.
Bowls will continue for Topsham bowlers for a little longer this season when they go on their tour to Portugal. They will play three games against local Portuguese teams and one against Spanish opposition. With several of the squad new to bowls this year, it should prove to be an exciting and interesting challenge.
Although the bowls have finished on the Topsham green for the season there are still many activities going on in the club throughout the winter. The skittles league will now start and the bridge club is in full swing.
